The SEC has announced that it is issuing the Texas Longhorns a fine, and as a result, the program is going after the students who caused it.
The No. 1 ranked football program in the country lost to No. 5 Georgia in their own building, 30-15, but some may argue an act by the fans was the most disappointing aspect of the night.
Fans delayed Saturday’s game by throwing trash and other debris onto the field during the game against the Georgia Bulldogs.
With just under three minutes to go, Texas intercepted a pass, but it was called back due to a very questionable pass interference.
Texas Longhorns fans booed and should’ve left it there, but then many in the student section began tossing trash on the field.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian was not happy with the Longhorn faithful, pleading with them to stop.
Fast forward days later, and now many in the student section have screwed themselves from attending games as the program started identifying the people who threw things and revoked their tickets to come to watch games in the future.

Texas wound up turning the turnover into points, but the Bulldogs held on for the victory when it was all said and done.
“I understand the frustration,” Sarkisian said following the loss. “We all were frustrated in the moment. But, you know… all of Longhorn Nation, I know we can be better than that.”
SEC Fines The Texas Longhorns After Trash Throwing Incident From Fans
The Southeastern Conference released a statement over the weekend saying officials made the proper decision with no penalty on the play with 3:12 left in the third quarter, but they were in no way excusing the fans’ behavior.
The SEC issued the Texas Longhorns a fine of $250,000.
In addition to the fine, Texas will be required to use all available resources to track down the individuals who threw things onto the field, which they are currently doing.
Those fans will be banned from Texas athletics events for the rest of the 2024-25 athletic year.
