Tom Brady was reportedly taken by surprise upon learning that his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, is expecting a child with her jiu-jitsu instructor and current partner, Joaquim Valente.
The supermodel, now 44, has been in a relationship with Valente, 35, since June 2023, following her October 2022 divorce from Brady, 47.
Earlier this week, Bündchen publicly announced her pregnancy. According to Page Six, Brady “never imagined” she would have a child with Valente. Sources indicated that the pregnancy “was not on Brady’s radar,” leaving him “stunned, to say the least,” when he heard the news.
Brady reportedly discovered only days ago that Bündchen is around “five or six” months along, with the baby expected in early 2025.
Shortly after the announcement, Brady shared a cryptic Instagram story featuring a sunset and the words: “Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?”—a line from Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 hit “Landslide,” later popularized by The Chicks.
Brady added audio with the lyrics, “Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?”
By Wednesday, reports suggested that Brady had “grown used” to the news and is “happy” for Bündchen. The former couple, who divorced after 13 years of marriage, share two children together: Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 11.
The revelation of Bündchen’s pregnancy came during a turbulent time for Brady, who faced backlash this week over language he used on an NFL broadcast. Brady attracted criticism after describing Bills quarterback Josh Allen with the term “sp*z.”
“Sometimes he played like a sp*z, like a grade-schooler on a sugar high, but now he’s controlled the chaos,” Brady said. “He’s like a storm coming into town, and you don’t want that storm coming into this town.”
