Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins sets the record straight on viral ‘Remember the Titans’ TD celebration

DeAndre Hopkins’ had quite the night during his first game at Arrowhead Stadium as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.

But his first touchdown will always be one to REMEMBER.

After making an impressive catch in the back of the end zone and getting two feet in bounds, Hopkins’ immediately began to celebrate.

He used the “Remember the Titans’ dance, which had many questioning if this was a dig at his former team.

But on Tuesday morning, Hopkins put an end to all that speculation.

“It was a shout to Tennessee, if you know me u know it’s nothing but love for Nashville. Ran an his crew like family. Without them I wouldn’t be here,” Hopkins posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Chiefs traded to acquire Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans just over two weeks ago. So Hopkins went from playing with a now 2-6 team, to a team that is undefeated.

In his six games with the Titans this season, Hopkins had 15 receptions and one touchdown. In two games with the Chiefs, he already has 10 receptions and two touchdowns.

But going to the Titans prior to the 2023 season was actually Hopkins’ decision. He was highly sought-after, but decided that Tennessee was the right place for him. So he wanted to set the record straight about his time with his former team.

However, it’s also very clear that he’s happy to be playing with Patrick Mahomes and a team that is seeking their third-straight Super Bowl championship. With Hopkins, a three-peat is even more likely now.
