ESPN analyst Jason Kelce and his wife, Kylie Kelce, are having one epic year.
Shortly after the couple revealed they were expecting their fourth daughter, the retired Philadelphia Eagles center confirmed he’ll be hosting, “They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce” on ESPN, which premieres on January 4.
As for Kylie, she surprise fans by announcing the launch of her own podcast, “Not Gonna Lie,” which premiered last week. After just one episode, her series usurped the No. 1 spot on both Spotify and Apple podcast charts, bumping Joe Rogan’s “The Joe Rogan Experience” down to the second spot.
The couple regularly discusses their private life on their respective podcasts, as Kelce hosts “New Heights” with his younger brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who’s dating Taylor Swift.
However, fans strongly reacted after Jason revealed his nickname for Kylie in a video that racked up over 2 million views on TikTok.
During a joint appearance on “Good Mythical Morning,” a popular YouTube series, the 36-year-old “Monday Night Countdown” host revealed that he calls Kylie, “Joe.”
“I call her Joe because when she played field hockey [in college], she reminded me of like a baby kangaroo the way she was like squatted down, so I called her Joey. Then I narrowed it down to Joe,” he explained. “That’s my only nickname.”
While it’s an unusual, it’s also the only nickname Kylie approves, as she refuses to be called “sweetie,” “babe,” “hun,” “honey.” Those terms should only be used by “a waitress in diner,” she explained.
“In Philadelphia, it takes on this sort of ‘okay, hun. It’s almost like ‘bless your heart. It’s like sharp. It just feels aggressive.” While fans still love the term, “Princess Kyana,” which Kelce affectionally used last April, they loved “Joe” even more.
One woman commented, “My husband calls me Jim and Jimbo, so I get this 😂.” Another fan wrote, “i love how she smiles when he says Joe lol.” One viewer added, “I have never felt so seen. My husband & I only call each other by our names AND the diner thing is 100% spot on.”
