“I Got Called To The Principal’s Office”: Eagles RB Saquon Barkley Reveals Why He Got In Trouble With The Refs During Win Over Rams On Sunday

Saquon Barkley revealed having gotten himself in some hot water with the referees during Sunday’s Philadelphia Eagles win over the Los Angeles Rams.

The Eagles are now one of four teams left in the NFL playoffs, having advanced to the NFC Championship Game with a Divisional-Round win over L.A. at home.

There was a bit of a game within a game, given what Jared Verse said about Eagles fans last week. The rookie linebacker had a telling impact on proceedings, making four tackles and two sacks. But the home team held on for a 28-22 victory, with their star running back putting his stamp on the contest with a sensational contribution.

Barkley addressed Verse’s comments after the contest, pointing out that it was perhaps unwise for him to say he hated Eagles fans right before heading to Philly.

“Probably not the smartest thing to say when you’re coming to Philadelphia,” he said, per the Daily Local News. “I’ve been on the other side (as a member of the New York Giants) and even if I felt some type of way, I probably wouldn’t give them any extra fuel. I’m pretty sure Philly fans have seen that comment. It was already going to be loud and rocking so it’s just only going to add to it.”

Saquon Barkley Warned By The Refs

Asked whether he had anything to say to the linebacker after one of his touchdown runs, Barkley suggested that his vitriol was reserved for the referees.

“I don’t think I said anything,” he remarked. “I got in trouble for talking a little crap to the refs. I got called to the principal’s office. But not on that play.”

Barkley and the Eagles will play the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game next weekend. They hope to earn a third postseason win, which would mean an appearance in the Super Bowl.
