Jason Kelce was unable to hold back the tears while trying to explain how difficult a time he had during the Super Bowl.
The former NFL star was torn between supporting his former team and his brother, who was playing on the other side.
Jason is, of course, Philly for life after spending 13 years with the Eagles. On the other hand, his younger brother plays for the Chiefs, and family comes first.
Speaking on their newest episode of ‘New Heights,’ the ESPN analyst admitted he was heartbroken for his brother, whom he wanted to win the game despite his affiliation with the Eagles.
“On one hand, you played your entire life with an organization and team,” said Jason, 37. “A lot of people in that building — coaches, friends, teammates that you’ve gone through adversity with — and it really makes you very, very close.
“And then on the other hand, you have your brother, and I’ve always supported you. I’ve always wanted you to win.”
It did seem like Jason was hoping for a Philly win when he brought up a hypothetical situation in which the Eagles would face the Chiefs in the Super Bowl last year. But he said he was rooting for his brother the whole way.
“And I wanted you to win this game. I thought I made that clear,” he added.
“You made it clear to me,” Travis said.
“It felt like I couldn’t be right,” Jason continued. “Felt like no matter what I said, some people were gonna skew it and say that I’m rooting for the Eagles, and some people were gonna skew it and say that I was rooting for the Chiefs or Travis. And it sucks.”

Travis pointed out to his brother that he didn’t have to explain himself to anyone, and he knew how he felt.
“Yeah and all that is true, we are still very much attached to this organization, which is why there is part of me that obviously is very happy and proud that they have won this game,” Jason replied. “But that does not take precedence over rooting for you. And that’s why this game sucked. It was very, very hard to watch.”
It was then he broke down in tears, noting that he would be both happy and sad no matter who won the game.
“As much as I love the Eagles, as much as I love the city of Philadelphia, there was not a f***ing ounce of me that … I tried to correlate that I was rooting for both sides the whole time and that I was gonna be happy and sad regardless.”
“I just don’t know how to articulate that I’m happy for some of the Eagles, but at the same time, I was miserable during the game watching you not achieve your success again.”
An insider is reported to have told People that Travis wanted Philadelphia to win but also wanted his brother to have a good performance.
“He was rooting for the Eagles to win but he also wanted Travis to play well,” they were quoted as saying.
The former offensive lineman wrote via X that it was “odd” watching the Eagles beat his brother, adding that, as much as he supported Travis, there are also people at his old team he deeply cares for.
