Travis Kelce was pretty emotional while admitting he made mistakes that cost his team a Super Bowl on Sunday night.
The star tight end discussed Sunday’s loss with his brother Jason on their post-Super Bowl ‘New Heights’ podcast this week. He appeared to fight back tears as he explained why the Kansas City Chiefs lost.
The AFC champions were unable to complete the three-peat as they were dominated by an inspired Philadelphia Eagles side and lost 40-22 on the night, with Travis making four catches for 39 yards.
With the season now over, the TE has had some time to reflect on what went wrong and confessed that there were some things he should have done better before apologizing to Chiefs fans for “how it ended.”
“Just wasn’t our day,” he said. “Couldn’t find a lick of momentum. I’m kicking myself for some of the tiny, tiny decisions I made on the field.
I wasn’t the best that I could be in motivating my guys and keeping my guys calm, cool and collected and I put a lot of that on myself, you know, as the guy that’s been in the building for 12 years and seen a lot of football and seen a situation just like this, in the Super Bowl.
“It’s a tough pill to swallow. It’s a hard reality, man.”
