An NFL rookie has passed away this weekend, plunging the football world into mourning.
According to Oregon insider James Crepea, former Oregon cornerback Khyree Jackson, who was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in April, lost his life in a vehicular accident.
Crepea cited the player’s agent and former high school coach.
“Former Oregon CB Khyree Jackson, who was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings, died in an auto accident, his agent and former high school coach confirm,” he reported.

The player’s mother, Ebbony Jackson, has since confirmed his passing to TMZ Sports.
“Khyree’s mother Ebbony Jackson confirmed the death, telling TMZ … Khyree died in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. She received a call about his death at 4 AM today,” the outlet published on Saturday.
The shocking report has garnered emotional reactions from fans online.
“May the Lord welcome him into heaven and give his family peace. I am so sad for them. No parents should have to bury their children. RIP,” an X/Twitter user commented.
“This is absolutely heartbreaking,” wrote another.
“My heart hurts for his family 💔 prayers being sent up for them during this tragic time,” a third said.
The Minnesota Vikings React To Khyree Jackson’s Passing
The Minnesota Vikings have offered a heartfelt reaction to their rookie’s unfortunate passing.
“We are devastated by the news of Khyree Jackson’s death following an overnight car accident,” the team shared via X/Twitter. “Our thoughts are with Khyree’s family, friends, teammates and coaches, as well as all the victims of this tragic accident.”

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning has also taken to social media to pay tribute and express his condolences.

Khyree Jackson started at a community college before transferring to Alabama. He later moved to Oregon and was selected as a First-Team All-Pac-12 player in his lone season with the Ducks.
The Vikings picked him at No. 108 in the fourth round earlier this year.
