The San Francisco 49ers are not going through a peaceful NFL season.
As per recent reports, the 49ers will be without offensive lineman Isaac Alarcon for the first six games of the 2025 season.
The league has sacked Alarcon due to a violation of the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy. The NFL formally announced the sanction on April 16, 2025.
Alarcon has been with the 49ers since last year, initially joining them on the practice squad before signing a futures contract. His NFL journey began with the Dallas Cowboys in 2020, although he has yet to participate in a regular-season game.
During his suspension, Alarcon will not be eligible to play in regular-season games, but he can participate in offseason practices, training camp, and preseason games.
The 49ers faced challenges in the previous season, recording only six wins and dealing with multiple player injuries, including to key receiver Brandon Aiyuk. The team’s offseason changes are aimed at improving their competitiveness and aspirations for a return to the playoffs.
The 49ers Had High Hopes For Isaac Alarcon

While Isaac Alarcon will be facing suspension, he was earlier expected to add depth to the 49ers lineup.
At 26 years old, Alarcon stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 320 pounds. He is a participant in the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program. He has been with the 49ers for over a year, having signed several reserve/future contracts. Despite this tenure, Alarcon has yet to see any in-game action for the team.
Previously, Alarcon went undrafted in 2020 and initially signed with the Dallas Cowboys. Throughout his career, he has played primarily as an offensive tackle, although he momentarily transitioned to defensive tackle in 2023.
Unfortunately for him, he was waived by the Cowboys before the start of that season without having appeared in any games.
The 49ers, who struggled last season with a 6-11 record, have experienced notable roster changes this offseason. They have already lost key players like Deebo Samuel, Talanoa Hufanga, Charvarius Ward, and Dre Greenlaw.
With Alarcon now suspended, he is also among the latest players affected by the NFL’s PED policy.
Alarcon was expected to provide depth behind starting right tackle Colton McKivitz, but his suspension only adds to the challenges for the 49ers.
