Rory McIlroy finally has his green jacket after the 35-year-old won the 2025 Masters on Sunday, defeating Justin Rose on the first hole of a playoff. It was his first time winning the tournament, and in doing so, he became the sixth player to have won all of golf’s majors.
After he sunk the final putt, McIlroy was incredibly emotional.
McIlroy enjoyed a special moment with his wife, Erica Stoll, and daughter, 4-year-old Poppy, right off the 18th green.
However, fans couldn’t help but notice that his longest hug was not with his wife.
Rory McIlroy took down Justin Rose in a one-hole playoff on Sunday, but his wife was extremely classy as she shared a long hug with him.
This was quite a weird moment, but it seems his wife, Erica, was just fine with it.
The woman in question was Kate Rose – the wife of the man McIlroy defeated in sudden death in Justin Rose.
Now, a new image from The Masters shows that Kate actually hugged Erica just seconds after McIlroy had holed the winning putt to claim the green jacket.
Golf reporter Kyle Porter shared the picture on X and added, ‘Oh wow, I didn’t see this one either, but Kate hugged Erica about three seconds after the putt dropped.’

Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll embracing Kate just shows how close the friends have gotten.
They have been Ryder Cup teammates for many years, so the relationship has been there.
Rory McIlroy And His Wife Have Been Through Enough

Almost a year ago, the golfing world was shocked when McIlroy filed for divorce from his wife of seven years, Erica Stoll, just days before the US PGA Championship.
According to docs obtained by Page Six, he cited that the seven-year marriage was “irretrievably broken.”
At the same time, rumors began to circulate that he was romantically involved with Amanda Balionis.
However, a month later, the couple announced they had “resolved differences” and wouldn’t be parting ways after all.
