Of all the things that go viral on a golf course, this might be the weirdest. Not a wild swing. Not a rogue golf cart. Not even a presidential rant. Just Donald Trump, listening to “Memory” from Cats while teeing off in Scotland.
Yes, really.
Over the weekend, the US president spent the day at Trump Turnberry, one of the most prestigious golf courses in the UK. He played alongside his son, Eric Trump, and a U.S. Ambassador. Despite protestors making noise nearby, Trump looked unfazed, clearly more focused on his game and playlist.

This wasn’t a one-time music pick, apparently. According to former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, Memory has been a Trump favorite for years.
Grisham’s memoir, I’ll Take Your Questions Now, reveals that White House staff often relied on music to keep Trump calm. In one section of the book, she shares how a staffer, dubbed the “Music Man,” would play Trump’s go-to show tunes whenever he seemed close to losing his temper.
“At one point, she writes, Mr. Trump’s handlers designated an unnamed White House official known as the ‘Music Man’ to play him his favorite show tunes, including ‘Memory’ from Cats, to pull him from the brink of rage,” The New York Times reported.
So while most golfers might go for something upbeat to keep the energy flowing, Trump went for nostalgia and theatrical flair. It’s a far cry from the usual golf soundtrack, but it’s on-brand for a man who rarely does anything by the book.
Social media had a field day. One user simply shared the video and wrote, “Hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha.”

Trump hasn’t commented on the viral clip, and honestly, he probably doesn’t need to. The moment speaks for itself, strange, dramatic, and somehow perfectly Trump.
Love him or hate him, the man is having a music choice of his own and that’s for sure.
