Jalen Carter let a lot of people down with his actions on Thursday night.
The NFL said it would emphasize sportsmanship in 2025, and the Eagles’ defensive star found out how serious they were when he was ejected six seconds into the game after he was caught spitting on Dak Prescott.
There’s at least a slight chance the NFL could suspend Carter for the Week 2 Super Bowl rematch at Arrowhead Stadium.
“It was a mistake that happened on my side,” Carter said after the game. “It just won’t happen again. I feel bad, just for my teammates and the fans out there. I’m doing it for them. I’m doing it for my family, also. They showed the most love. You heard them out there.
“Just not being to finish the game, or start the game even, finish the game is disappointing. It won’t happen again, I promise.”
One Eagles cheerleader pretty much summed up how everyone inside Lincoln Financial Field felt toward Jalen Carter after he was ejected.
One picture of him walking off the field with his head down also caught the cheerleader side-eyeing him as she held her pom-poms to her side.
Could The NFL Suspend Jalen Carter?
The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Dallas Cowboys 24-20 in the NFL season opener. That was the good news.
Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was ejected for spitting before the first play from scrimmage. That could potentially be terrible news.
Could he find himself suspended for his actions?
The Philadelphia Eagles’ Pro Bowl defensive tackle, who was responding with spit after Dak Prescott spat first, basically served a one-game suspension following his ejection just six seconds into the game.
Whether or not the league will issue a legitimate suspension is still undetermined as of this writing.
Jalen Carter should expect a lofty fine for his behavior.
On Friday morning, NFL insider Ian Rapoport implied that Carter might escape a league-issued suspension
