A fake photo of the suspect arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk has gone viral online and is causing a stir.
The photo shows Tyler Robinson wearing a Trump T-shirt. It started spreading after a photo of the 22-year-old standing in a bedroom surfaced online. A Trump shirt was photoshopped onto him, and it is getting way more traction than the original, in which he’s shown in a plain tee.
“The fake photo (which hasn’t been deleted) gets 400k impressions in an hour, and the real one gets 50k,” Collin Rugg wrote in a tweet. “There appears to be a coordinated effort right now to spread as much fake information as possible to label the alleged Kirk assassin as a far-right Trump supporter.”
An account with 5 million followers on X posts a fake photo of suspect Tyler Robinson wearing a Trump shirt and quietly follows up in a thread with the real photo.

It is unknown whether Rugg was calling out the X algorithm, but several posts have pointed to Robinson as a Trump supporter since he was identified as the suspect.
It’s worth noting that he has also appeared in an old photo from 2017, in which he’s wearing a Trump costume for Halloween.
Tyler Robinson Turned Himself In After Being Prompted By Family
Robinson, who attended Utah State University, was arrested after turning himself in ahead of the weekend. He had led the authorities on a manhunt after allegedly taking the shot that ended Charlie Kirk’s life on Wednesday. His mugshot has since gone viral.
The conservative activist was going through a debate at Utah Valley University when his speech was cut short by a gunshot. He immediately jerked back as a bullet hit his neck and was later pronounced dead.
His killer was shown on surveillance footage running into the nearby woods after jumping off a roof.
According to Utah Governor Spencer Cox, a family member and family friend facilitated Robinson’s arrest, persuading him to drive himself to a police station, where he was taken into custody without incident.
