Internet detectives uncovered evidence that Philadelphia Eagles stars Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown ignored Nick Sirianni’s pivotal play call late in their sloppy ‘Monday Night Football’ win over the Green Bay Packers.
In one of the sloppiest games in recent memory, the Eagles defeated the Packers 10-7 at Lambeau Field in a defensive slugfest. And let’s just say Philly made it harder on themselves than necessary with a horrible play call on their final drive.
The Eagles had the ball at the Packers’ 35-yard line with only 33 seconds remaining. Green Bay was out of timeouts, so Philly’s best options were to either punt or attempt a lengthy field goal to extend their lead.
But for some reason, Jalen Hurts attempted a deep ball to AJ Brown that was broken up by Carrington Valentine:
Fortunately for the Eagles, the mind-numbing play didn’t cost them, as Brandon McManus missed the game-tying 64-yard field goal attempt by a country mile.
Fans Think AJ Brown & Jalen Hurts Called Their Own Play
One Eagles fan noted that Nick Sirianni appeared confused over Hurts’ decision to throw the ball to Brown.
Watch the video below, and make your own conclusion:
Per Thomas R. Petersen, Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith also appeared confused by the play call, saying, “If that’s what they call and they want, we roll with it.”
There has been widespread speculation about a broken relationship between Brown and Hurts. Remember, Brown appeared to call out his quarterback after scoring a touchdown against the Minesota Vikings in Week 7.
AJ Brown’s name was widely mentioned in trade rumors as well, but the Eagles never appeared close to dealing the superstar wideout, and rightfully so. Regardless of what issues may persist in the locker room, Brown greatly bolsters their chances of a Super Bowl repeat.
