Things changed once things changed.
If Sherrone Moore reported in for work on Monday, he couldn’t have imagined his week would end the way it did.
Moore, the head coach of the Michigan football program since January 2024, was terminated for cause this Wednesday. The manner of dismissal meant the university was no longer liable for his $13 million buyout.
Losing a job that pays over $5 million a year just like that must have been highly disappointing. Moore must have felt sick to his stomach. But he has exacerbated the situation by landing himself in jail.
According to a report from the New York Post, Paige Shiver, the woman who claims to have been in a relationship with Moore, was the one who drove the final nail.

It noted that Shiver received a 55 percent salary increase, which took her annual take-home pay to $90,000 at the beginning of the 2024-25 fiscal year. She was promoted to executive assistant to the head coach in November.
Moore was advised this week not to work directly with his new assistant after rumors of their relationship began circulating.
He took that to mean that she should be fired.
“When Moore decided to fire the woman instead of transferring her elsewhere in the football program or the athletic department, she reportedly came forward with details of their alleged affair,” the Post reports.
Shiver had initially denied having a relationship with the head coach, but she changed her story this week.
Moore would head straight to Shiver’s apartment after he was terminated, resulting in his arrest.
He appeared in court on Friday following a felony charge of home invasion. He has also been charged with stalking and breaking and entering without breaking.
