ESPN reported that Moore was detained and “turned over to the Pittsfield Township Police Department for investigation.” Police in Pittsfield Township said a suspect had been taken into custody. This was after authorities responded to an “alleged assault” on Wednesday.

Dan Wetzel of ESPN reported that the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office stated that a charging decision was not expected on Thursday.

Sherrone Moore Remains In Jail

The ex-head football coach at the University of Michigan remained in jail on Thursday. Pittsfield police said a suspect was “lodged” at a Washtenaw County jail while prosecutors reviewed charges.

Police in Saline, Michigan, initially detained Moore. He would soon be turned over to authorities in Pittsfield Township “for investigation into potential charges.”

Prosecutors are weighing charges stemming from his arrest following his firing. He is expected to be arraigned at some point on Friday.

It started with a Michigan employee calling police to report an attack by Sherrone Moore. The woman claimed he had been stalking the alleged victim for months, according to the 911 call audio.

The 39-year-old spent two seasons as Michigan’s coach. He previously served as the team’s offensive coordinator.
