Patrick Mahomes wouldn’t stay silent.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes weighed in on Bill Belichick’s shocking snub from the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.
On Tuesday, news broke that Bill Belichick was left off the ballot for this year’s Hall of Fame class. The six-time Super Bowl champion didn’t get the mandatory 40 of 50 votes required, a development that has left the football world completely baffled.
After the news was announced, Patrick Mahomes took to X (Twitter) to share his thoughts. The three-time Super Bowl champion wrote, “Insane… don’t even understand how this could be possible.”
Mahomes faced Bill Belichick five times during the latter’s tenure with the New England Patriots. Belichick’s squad won the first two meetings in 2018 (including the AFC Championship Game). However, Mahomes bested the Pats in the 2019, 2020 and 2023 regular season meetings.
Belichick was reportedly “puzzled” and “disappointed” by being snubbed from the Hall of Fame this year. It’s not hard to understand why. We’re only talking about arguably the greatest coach in NFL history, after all.
Bill Belichick Cemented Himself As A Deserving First-Ballot Hall of Famer Two Decades ago
When Belichick led the New England Patriots to their third Super Bowl in four years in the 2004 season? That should have cemented him as a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
It’s impossible to comprehend how a man with 302 wins (the third-most in league history) and six Super Bowl rings (most among any NFL head coach by a country mile) would be snubbed in his first year.
Belichick deserves an explanation from the Canton voters, pure and simple. It makes you wonder if Andy Reid will have to wait five-plus years to get in. And for all we know, Aaron Rodgers won’t get the call in his first year of eligibility.
