Tiger Woods’ son has made his decision.
Charlie Woods, the 17-year-old son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, is taking his talents to the Sunshine State.
After months of speculation, Charlie Woods has announced his college commitment. On Tuesday afternoon, Woods took to Instagram and revealed that he has committed to the Florida State University Seminoles for 2027.
“Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University — go Noles!” Woods wrote on his Instagram page.
Many naturally assumed that Charlie Woods would follow his father’s footsteps and commit to Stanford. But after mulling over his many options, Woods has decided to continue his education in Florida.
Woods, who turned 17 on Sunday, attends The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida. Kai Trump, whose mother Vanessa is in a relationship with Tiger Woods, also attended The Benjamin School. Kai committed to Miami in 2024.
As the son of arguably the greatest golfer of all time, expectations on Charlie Woods are sky-high. Obviously, it’s unfair to expect Charlie to have the type of his career his father has enjoyed, but he’s already built up a giant fanbase that will be rooting him on for years to come.
Tiger Woods single-handedly brought more global attention to golf in the 2000s. A string of injuries ended his prime much sooner than expected, but he’s still second in career major victories with 15, only three behind Jack Nicklaus. If Woods hadn’t suffered all those injuries, he could have easily broken Nicklaus’ record more than a decade ago.
The legendary Tiger may have to retire from golf sooner rather than later, but he may just end up passing the torch over to Charlie. Hopefully, a blossoming college career awaits him at FSU. Hopefully, that will be followed by a career on the PGA.
