Team USA has seen better days.
Team USA is trying to win a Gold Medal in the bobsled competition at the Winter Olympics. Things got off to a rough start last month.
At the 2026 World Cup event in St. Moritz, Switzerland, Team USA driver Kris Horn found himself alone. He was forced to navigate the track alone without his teammates. His three teammates failed to load into the four-man sled.
Social Media Reacts To Team USA Athletes Falling During Bobsled Competition
Ryan Rager, Hunter Powell, and Caleb Furnell stumbled during the push start as they fell to the ice. Horn is the team’s driver and is expected to be the first one in the Bobsled. Not having his teammates on board led to trouble navigating the course.
He reached a speed of 75 mph during the run that lasted just over a minute, according to the Associated Press. “We are fortunate it wasn’t worse,” USA Bobsled head coach Chris Fogt said to the AP.
Here is how social media reacted:
“No better way to describe that Country at the moment! Classic!” one person said.
“I think this is a good metaphor for what the USA is now,” a second person wrote.
“Welp. Train all year, just for that,” a third person added.
“I guess they didn’t feel the rhythm, didn’t feel the rhyme, didn’t get on up. They didn’t realize it’s bobsled time,” one final person commented.
During an Olympics that has already been marked by tragedy, whether skiers dying or Lindsey Vonn suffering an accident, it is incredible that everybody walked away from this.
This year, the U.S. sent 14 athletes to compete in Bobsled at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan-Cortina, Italy. The 2026 U.S. Olympic men’s bobsled team for the Milan Cortina Games consists of 8 athletes. They are Frank Del Duca, Kris Horn, Caleb Furnell, Boone Niederhofer, Hunter Powell, Bryan Sosoo, Carsten Vissering, and Josh Williamson.
Only Ryan Rager did not make it with his other teammates. The guys who did will compete in the two-man and four-man events at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
