Raygun slams decision to drop breakdancing from 2028 Olympics after scoring zero

Breaker Raygun has been candid about how she feels after learning she won’t be able to compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The Paris 2024 Olympics has finally come to an end and what a wild and Snoop Dogg filled time it has been.

With moments that warm your heart and others that absolutely break it, it really has been an Olympics to remember.

Fans have enjoyed it so much that many have been looking straight ahead to the next one in 2028 in Los Angeles and have taken notice of some of the changes.

In a surprising move, a sport will be removed from the next Olympics and its replacement has already been named: cricket.

The sport that won’t be at the games in 2024? The men’s 100m track and field event….OK, just messing with you, but could you imagine?

No, in reality the event that won’t be returning is breaking, which made its Olympic debut this year. Japan took gold in the B-girls event while Canada came out on top in the B-boys. Easy come, easy go, it seems.

While there were still moments of great excitement as b-boys and b-girls competed, one athlete went viral for all the wrong reasons, Australian b-girl, Raygun, real name Rachael Gunn.

Viral videos of Gunn began circulating on social media showing her unorthodox routine that saw her score a zero and many viewers were less than impressed.

Breakdancing, or breaking as it’s officially known, has not been included on the schedule for the 2028 Games, a decision that was taken before this summer’s Olympics had begun.

Speaking on the breaking not returning, Gunn said: “It was disappointing it was decided that it wouldn’t be in L.A., particularly before we even had a chance to show it.

“That was possibly a little premature. I wonder if they’re kicking themselves now?

“What is an Olympic sport? What are the similarities between dressage and artistic swimming and the 100m sprint and the pentathlon?

“Breaking is clearly athletic, it clearly requires a whole level of dedication across a number of different aspects. It’s really bringing a new level of excitement.”

It seems Raygun hasn’t let the ridicule get to her too much as she also posted an optimistic message on her social media page.

She wrote: “Don’t be afraid to be different. Go out there and represent yourself, you never know where that’s gonna take you.”

Best way to look at things, I suppose.
