Rap icon Dr. Dre hopes to qualify for an Olympic sport as he has designs on trying his hand at a certain discipline when the games come to Los Angeles in 2028.

Dre, now 59, performed with longtime partner in crime Snoop Dogg during Sunday’s closing ceremony at the Stade de France in Paris, but it appears that’s not enough for him as far as Olympic involvement goes.

The rapper and producer wants to join the Team USA archery team, disclosing as much to Nischelle Turner during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Turner expressed some disbelief, having suspected the “Forgot About Dre” artist was joking.

However, the industry veteran claimed he was “dead a** serious.”

Dre revealed that he took up archery at junior high and got back into it recently, as his son gifted him equipment.

“I heard that qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet, and I practice at 90,” he said. “Wouldn’t that be interesting to go, especially with it being here in L.A., and win a gold medal?”

Dr. Dre Did Not Enjoy The BReakdancing At The Olympics This Year

Turner jokingly asked whether Dre would try out for breakdancing, but he admitted he didn’t enjoy what he saw after it debuted at the games in France this year.

Fortunately for him, it won’t be featured in 2028’s event.

Qualifying for the archery competition is easier said than done. Still, perhaps the organizers could find a way to get him in there as someone such as Dre participating in a sporting event would draw even more attention.

Of course, he would prefer getting in there on merit.

“I feel like I can do anything,” he declared.

Fingers crossed then.
