Everyone’s Loving What Caitlin Clark Said About Her WNBA Salary

Caitlin Clark has jokes about her WNBA salary.

The Indiana Fever star point guard, who was taken No. 1 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft, is not paid very well, at least compared to those in other professional leagues. Clark is making about $80,000 per season, signing a four-year, $338,056 contract after starring collegiately at Iowa.

NBA players, of course, make significantly more. Victor Wembanyama, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, signed a four year, $55,174,766 contract with the Spurs. He’s making about 163.21 times what Clark is making.

While that’ll hopefully change at some point, Clark is able to joke about it in the meantime.

Over the weekend, Clark joked about how much she makes, saying that season tickets to the Indiana Fever cost about as much as her salary.

“[Season tickets] are pretty expensive,” a smiling Clark said. “It’s like our entire salary to get those. I’m not kidding.”

It’s a stretch, of course – you can get season tickets to the Fever for just a couple of grand. But the highest priced tickets are somewhat comparable to Clark’s salary.

WNBA fans loved the joke, though.

“First, no one texts her and now she’s broke 😆 soooo unserious!! LOL 🤣,” one fan wrote.

“mark my words – cc will do more to increase w players’ salaries in one year than the w has done in 27,” one fan added.

“She is low key advocating for the WNBA to increase the salaries,” one fan added.

“Do the players at least get free hotdogs? I hear they are big sellers,” one fan added.

Hopefully, that joke will hit home in less painful fashion moving forward for Clark and the WNBA.
