Over this offseason, Ja’Marr Chase has made it obvious that he wasn’t a new contract extension from the Cincinnati Bengals. However, it’s become a trend for athletes to post cryptic tweets or photos during situations like this.

Chase has embraced that recently posting a photo of Joe Burrow side-eyeing a camera the same day that Chase showed up late to practice and in street clothes. Burrow then made that exact same photo his Instagram profile picture.

Of course, that means people are now giving their opinions on the situations, with some thinking there is some deeper meaning to all of it, and others saying it’s no big deal.

“Wow. What shocking news. He changed his PFP,” said one comment.

“Chase using Burrow as leverage to get his Jefferson deal from Cincy and Burrow more than happy to play along. He wants to see his guy $$PAID$$ too!” said another.

“Shows how childish men making millions of dollars really are both are overrated and I’d trade ja’mar chase RIGHT NOW if I was the Bengals but of course they wont,” added a third.

“It would be nice if he, you know, practiced with the team,” continued a fourth.

Most of the time, though, these posts never really mean much and are just a way for athletes to sort of throw people off.

Ja’Marr Chase Could Receive Record-Breaking Deal

Other than quarterbacks, wide receivers are consistently among the highest-paid players in the NFL. With Justin Jefferson making $35 million a year and Cowboys’ Ceedee Lamb just signing a contract making $34 million a year, that’s become very obvious.

However, Chase has the chance to completely change the market for the position. Since his rookie year in 2021, he has made three straight Pro Bowls and won Offensive Rookie of the Year.

His stats and talent on the field could justify him becoming the highest-paid wide receiver of all time.
