Teammates react to Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins’ first touchdown grab with Kansas City

The Kansas City Chiefs have to feel really good about their trade for WR DeAndre Hopkins after the first half of their Week 9 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The reactions from the team’s injured players watching “Monday Night Football” from home say it all.

Hopkins has six receptions on six targets for 66 yards and a touchdown in the first half against the Bucs. One of those receptions was a 35-yard catch on third down, with QB Patrick Mahomes throwing up a prayer as he got hit. Hopkins came down with the grab and some of his new teammates started reacting.

Chiefs CB Jaylen Watson, who is on injured reserve with an ankle injury, was one of the first to react on X (formerly Twitter).

Hopkins wasn’t done there, though. He finished the job, capping off the drive with his first touchdown grab as a member of the Chiefs. Hopkins’ former teammate with the Arizona Cardinals, Hollywood Brown, was among the first to celebrate his first touchdown grab. Brown is expected back from injured reserve ahead of the playoffs.

JuJu Smith-Schuster is dealing with a hamstring injury and has missed the past two games, but he managed to hype up his new teammate after the score.

The new No. 8 looks like just what the doctor ordered to cure the Chiefs’ wide receiver woes. He’s looking every bit the superstar wide receiver that has been advertised. Chiefs Kingdom knows it and so do his teammates.
