Surprise AFC Team Lands Chargers Superstar Joey Bosa In Blockbuster Trade Proposal That Would Make Them Immediate Super Bowl Contenders

A massive trade proposal has a top AFC team bolstering their already dangerous defense by acquiring Los Angeles Chargers superstar edge rusher Joey Bosa.

Heading into the 2024 offseason, many wondered if the Chargers would cut or trade Joey Bosa. But along with fellow pass-rushing stalwart Khalil Mack, Bosa agreed to a restructured deal to remain with the Bolts.

The 2016 first-round pick has two years remaining on his deal before he can enter free agency in 2026. But if the right offer comes along for new GM Joe Hortiz and head coach Jim Harbaugh, the Chargers would be wise to trade Bosa now for future assets.

Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport proposed a blockbuster trade idea that has Los Angeles trading Joey Bosa to the defending AFC East champion Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick:

“Much has been made of the team’s situation at wide receiver after the departure of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. But the Bills have a potential weakness on defense as well. Only one player for Buffalo eclipsed 10 sacks last season—edge-rusher Leonard Floyd, who is now in San Francisco. Buffalo’s projected starters on the edge (Gregory Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa) combined for just 11.5 sacks a year ago…

Getting Bosa’s contract on the books would take some wrangling, but Brandon Beane is as crafty a GM as there is in the NFL. It’s a risky play—but one that could pay off big if the Bills get the Bosa who made three straight Pro Bowls from 2019-2021.”

The Bills have consistently churned out a top-10 defense under Sean McDermott, but the lack of pass-rushing depth is a key reason why they haven’t solved Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow in the postseason.

Enter a four-time Pro Bowler in Joey Bosa, who has 67 career sacks and 15 forced fumbles in 93 games. This includes four seasons of double-digit sacks, highlighted by a personal-best 12.5 in 2017.

Joey Bosa Makes Perfect Sense For Bills

Injuries have limited him to 14 games over the past two seasons, so there is some risk in trading for Bosa. But if the Bills want to widen their championship window, GM Brandon Beane has to consider making a risky move or two. And trading for Bosa could very well be the type of move that gets this team over the hump once and for all.
