Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck isn’t ready to enter the NFL after all.
Per Pete Nakos of On3.com, Carson Beck has decided to enter the transfer portal and extend his NCAA career, despite previously announcing his plans to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel added that the Miami Hurricanes are the early favorites to land Beck, though his camp will “listen to all potential suitors.” Miami’s star quarterback of 2024, Cam Ward, has declared for the NFL Draft.
Carson Beck’s excellent 2024 season unfortunately ended when he injured the UCL in his right throwing hand during the SEC Championship Game against the Texas Longhorns on Dec. 7. Beck required season-ending surgery, with backup Gunnar Stockton taking over the offense.
While Miami looms as the favorite for Beck, a source said that Beck’s camp intends to listen to all potential suitors for the best situation: “It’s a strategic thing, not an emotional thing,” the source said.

The No. 2 ranked Bulldogs qualified for the 12-team College Football Playoff but lost 23-10 to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the quarterfinals. Beck’s absence was felt mightily for a Georgia team that mustered just 296 yards in the lopsided defeat.
Just one year ago, Carson Beck and Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers were among the top quarterback prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft. But Beck has decided to go back to college, and Ewers still hasn’t made a decision on his football future.
Carson Beck Gets To Further Build His NFL Draft Stock
Beck turned heads with a phenomenal 2023 season, completing 72.4 percent of pass attempts for 3,941 yards, 24 touchdowns and only six interceptions to go along with four rushing scores.
He followed it up with another impressive season in 2024, completing 64.7 percent of pass attempts for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Obviously, there’s no telling how far Georgia would have gone with a healthy Beck in the playoffs.
Beck is already a fascinating future NFL quarterback prospect, but he gets another chance to further increase his stock before turning pro.
