The Buffalo Bills fan who shoved DeAndre Hopkins and Lamar Jackson during Sunday night’s win over the Baltimore Ravens has learned his fate.
The ugly incident occurred in the third quarter of the sensational ‘Sunday Night Football’ fixture after Jackson and Hopkins combined for an incredible touchdown pass that put the visitors up 34-19.
A fan wearing a red Bills jersey was seen pushing the wide receiver while the players celebrated near the front row. Seconds later, the same happened to Jackson. While Hopkins would only smile, Jackson shoved the fan in the chest, sitting him right back down.
Security later removed him from the stadium.
Jackson, who got into an altercation with a fan during preseason, apologized after the game, although his response was totally understandable.
Lamar Jackson Says His Emotions Got The Better Of Him, But The Fan Is Banned For Life
The Bills have since responded by issuing a lifetime stadium ban that doesn’t just cover Highmark Stadium but every other venue in the NFL, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Shefter tweeted on Monday that, “The fan who shoved Ravens WR DeAndre Hopkins, and then got shoved by QB Lamar Jackson, has been “indefinitely banned from Bills and NFL stadiums”, per a team official.”
The Bills supporter, upset after watching his team get pounded, will regret his reaction even more as he missed a wild comeback.
“I let my emotions get the best of me. You’ve got to think in those situations. You have security out there—let security handle it,” Jackson told reporters after the loss.
The Ravens QB was defended by analysts and fans alike, given that the fan put his hands on him first.
No criminal charges have been filed, yet legal experts claim that the actions against the Ravens stars could qualify as assault and battery. In any case, Hopkins and Jackson will be pleased with the outcome.
The NFL’s decision to ban the fan makes it clear that physical interactions with players will not be tolerated under any circumstances. It’s a harsh lesson, but perhaps one he needed.
