Anthony Joshua and his friends were enjoying life mere hurs before fatal accident.
Anthony Joshua’s mental health will need to be checked for some time.
Joshua, the Nigerian-British boxer, suffered minor injuries Monday in a car crash in Nigeria. However, the accident would claim the lives of two other passengers.
The boxer was traveling in the back of a Lexus SUV. They were on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Sagamu when tragedy struck. The vehicle reportedly had a blown tire and was involved in a collision with a stationary truck.
“The vehicle conveying Anthony Joshua, a Lexus SUV, was involved in the accident under circumstances that are currently being investigated,” a statement from Ogun State Police Command read.
“He was seated in the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries, and is receiving medical attention. Tragically, two other passengers in the vehicle lost their lives at the scene.”
Those two deceased passengers were his good friends. Anthony Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, Sina Evovle, is one of the deceased men. The second man was AJ’s personal trainer, Latz. Heartbreaking footage has since come out to show just how quickly life can change.
A video from Instagram shows Joshua walking in an airport with his friends. They would then load up in the SUV, which they would later crash. That was seven hours before the incident.
Jake Paul Speaks Out on Anthony Joshua’s Car Accident
On Monday morning, Anthony Joshua had his life turned upside down during an accident in Nigeria. Ten days after beating YouTuber Jake Paul in a boxing match, he would lose two friends who were there supporting him.
The former heavyweight world champion had been celebrating his victory against Paul when tragedy struck. Jake Paul has now spoken out following the accident.
Taking to X, he wrote: ‘Life is much more important than boxing. I am praying for the lost lives, AJ, and anyone impacted by today’s unfortunate accident.’
The entire front of the vehicle had been destroyed in the accident. Joshua’s two friends were thrown from the vehicle as they lay deceased on the ground. The only thing you can hope for is that they passed away immediately with no pain.
Anthony Joshua was seated behind the driver. It is unknown who, or if anybody, had seat belts on as the investigation continues.
