Caitlin Clark picks a new team with the Kansas City Chiefs out of the playoff race.
With her beloved Kansas City Chiefs out of the playoffs, Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark is cheering for one of their AFC rivals to win it all.
Caitlin Clark is a well-known fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. She even watched the Chiefs’ Week 6 ‘Sunday Night Football’ home game against the Detroit Lions with Taylor Swift at Arrowhead Stadium.
But the Chiefs were officially eliminated from playoff contention with a Week 15 home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. In that game, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL tear. At 6-10, Kansas City has also suffered its first losing season since 2012.
So, who does the face of the WNBA have with her Chiefs out of the postseason race?
During an appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, Caitlin Clark revealed that she’ll cheer for the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl 60.
“Honestly, like, I’m a Drake Maye fan,” Caitlin Clark said. “I’ll probably be like, pulling for the Patriots.”
Clark added that she could “root for” Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold. Seattle would clinch the top seed in the NFC with a win over the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday.
Caitlin Clark Missed The Majority Of Her Sophomore Season
Clark had a dazzling rookie season for the ages, 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game. Unfortunately, her highly anticipated sophomore season was derailed by various injuries.
The No. 1 pick of 2024 missed 31 of Indiana’s 44 regular-season games. She averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
Even though Clark missed most of the year, Indiana finished 24-20 to end a nine-year playoff drought. They upset the Atlanta Dream in the opening round before bowing out to the Las Vegas Aces in the second round.
