This could have been tragic.
One parachuter narrowly escaped disaster ahead of Friday’s Armed Forces Bowl between Texas State and Rice.
Videos have surfaced on social media showing the parachute in question getting caught in one of the cables supporting the field goal netting. He then dropped several feet with no support.
The individual had been working as part of a display over the Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. Five parachutists from the All Veteran Group jumped from a small plane; three of them landed as planned.
One of them landed outside the stadium, the other experienced what’s described above.
People in the stadium watched on helplessly as he came crashing down, with many gasping.

According to the media director for the bowl, the parachuter walked away from the fall and appeared to be okay.
His name hadn’t been released at the time of writing.
Meanwhile, no injuries have been reported. While the jumper appeared to land in a crowd, he may not have hit anyone.
Texas State Wins Armed Forces Bowl
Texas State won the Armed Forces Bowl with a 41-10 scoreline.
The Bobcats qualified after a 6-6 regular-season finish. Rice accepted an invitation to play them after another team opted out of the matchup.
The game started on time, and despite the mishap, there was no delay. Other parachuters were treated to rough landings; however, as scary as the one who got caught in the cable.
Officials are reportedly investigating the equipment failure.
The All Veteran Group is comprised of military vets who perform at major events, including college and NFL games. They have been part of the pregame celebrations at the Armed Forces Bowl in the past.
