As the San Francisco 49ers take on the New York Jets during the first Monday Night Football game during Week 1, it’s primed to be a great matchup. However, during the game, many social media users have been saying the same thing about wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
As of halftime, Aiyuk had just one reception for 14 yards. He also dropped an amazing throw from Brock Purdy in the back of the endzone. Of course, he just signed a massive four-year $120 million deal with $76 million guaranteed.
This subpar performance has people heated, considering he hasn’t been a big producer during the game, and it’s made for some hilarious posts.
“Brandon aiyuk we just paid you a lot of money we’re gonna need you to get open because cmc is hurt”

“The Steelers dodged a massive bullet and should be thanking God for his protection tonight. Aiyuk bamboozled the 49ers into giving him over $120 million while knowing he’s the most overrated receiver in the NFL and won’t live up to the high expectations,” one comment said.
“Aiyuk has only one catch? Buddy gotta do more then that the way he was acting this offseason lol,” said another.
“Brandon aiyuk begged for that money and dropping wide open touchdown passes is crazy,” a third commenter remarked.
“Spectacular throw by Brock I knew that Aiyuk was going to have a slow start, that’s what being a loser holding out for your contract does to you. Look at Nick Bosa last year,” added a fourth individual.
Of course, it’s only Week 1, so this could be an overreaction.
Brandon Aiyuk Had No Preseason Snaps
The preseason is certainly regarded as a time when many coaching staff can get a better look at the borderline roster players competing for a backup spot.
However, it’s also a great time for many starters to get back to seeing a fast-paced game.
Considering Aiyuk didn’t play a snap in either of the three games, it could be why he’s struggling in the first game.
