The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards graced our screens last night (11 September) and Swifties were treated to a whole bunch of Taylor Swift action.
For starters, the 34-year-old ‘Love Story’ singer took home the prestigious Video of the Year award for the record-breaking fifth time for ‘Fortnight’ as well as receiving a staggering 12 nominations, ultimately becoming the most-awarded artist in the ceremony’s history.
However, fans seemed way more preoccupied with Taylor’s outfit which had everyone making the exact same comparison.

Swift wore an all-Dior ensemble featuring a yellow plaid corset-style top complete with an open skirt, black velvet hot pants, leather gloves and thigh-high boots.
Many thought it was reminiscent of something Blake Lively’s character, Lily Bloom, would have worn in her latest film, It Ends With Us.
One X user joked: “It was so sweet of Blake Lively to let Taylor Swift raid the It Ends With Us’ costume trailer.”
“Why do i feel like Blake Lively styled her?” speculated a second.
A third wondered “Why is this looking like something Blake Lively would’ve worn for it ends with us LMFAOOO.”
“Taylor Swift looks like Blake Lively to me,” echoed another while a final X user added: “Taylor swift… this is so Deadpool Blake Lively coded.”
I’d say it was giving more Cher from Clueless but that’s just me.
In her acceptance speech for Video of the Year, Taylor paid touching tribute to her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who joined her on set while she directed the award-winning video for ‘Fortnight’ which featured on her Tortured Poets Department album.

She said: “You know, this video seems very sad when you watch it, but it was the most fun video to make and something I will always remember is that when I would finish a take and I would say ‘cut’ and we’d be done with the take, I would always just hear someone cheering and like ‘woo’ from across the studio where we were shooting it and that one person was my boyfriend, Travis.
“Everything this man touches turns into happiness and find a magic so I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I will always remember that.”

“To the fans, I’m always trying to figure out a way to say thank you to you for making my life what it is, for making the Eras tour what it has become, for making the Tortured Poets Department what it has become,” she concluded
“That’s all you guys for doing that and for voting for this award. So thank you to MTV for giving me this opportunity to thank the fans, to thank you for what you’ve done.”
