Pink told daughter Willow she wasn’t allowed a phone until she could prove one thing

Pink‘s 12-year-old daughter is the only kid in her class without a phone, after she believes that social media isn’t necessarily ‘good for you’.

The pop star, 44, gave us an interesting insight into her parenting techniques, during a series of interview before releasing her new album last year.

She has been clear about not wanting to mollycoddle her children, Willow, 12, and Jameson, 7, over fears that the world will ‘eat them up’.

Speaking on KTU 103.5 FM’s Carolina With Greg T In The Morning Show, Pink said she walks a ‘fine line’ of wanting to protect her kids’ ‘innocence’, whilst also making sure they are prepared for the real world.

When asked about her thoughts on introducing children to social media, the singer explained that her kids don’t have phones.

“It’s hard,” she admitted. “A lot of my friends have their kids on TikTok, and I don’t. I told Willow, ‘that doesn’t move my needle, they’re not my kids, you’re my kid.'”

Pink also explained to her daughter that she has ‘a lot of eyes on her’ as the child of a global pop star, meaning what she posts will get a lot more traction than her friends do.

But while the singer assured her daughter does have a watch which allows her to communicate with her mum when necessary, Pink isn’t willing to budge any time soon on social media.

“I told [Willow], point blank, ‘If you can produce literature from a reputable source that tells me that social media is good for you, then you can be on it. Otherwise, good luck,'” she said.

Pink added: “She could be a lawyer, she could literally pass the bar. She’s always right… She might actually find that literature, but good luck.”

The singer’s two kids have joined her on her recent tours, but she made sure she wasn’t ‘taking over’ Willow’s life in the process.

The 12-year-old was travelling back and forth to ensure she was still having a sense of normality.

In the interview before the tour, Pink said: “I’m so lucky to be able to bring my kids with me, and all of my guitar players’ kids are going to be there… it’s amazing.”
