NFL fans are losing their minds after an old quote from Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen resurfaced — one that will sting for the long-suffering Cleveland Browns fans.
Josh Allen and Baltimore Ravens superstar Lamar Jackson have emerged as the top two quarterbacks of the 2018 NFL Draft class. Hindsight is 20/20, but it’s hard to believe now that Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold were taken first and third, respectively, before Allen and Jackson.
Though Mayfield has enjoyed a career revival with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he didn’t exactly live up to expectations in Cleveland. The Browns gave up on him after four seasons, then sold the farm for Deshaun Watson in a move that already looks like one of the worst trades in NFL history.
So naturally, some fans can’t help but wonder where the Browns would be today if they used the top pick on Josh Allen instead of Baker Mayfield. Not to rub salt into the wound of long-suffering Browns fans, but this six-year-old quote from Allen recently resurfaced and haunts Cleveland fans all these years later:

Josh Allen has asserted himself as one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, throwing for 23,074 passing yards and 170 touchdowns to go along with 3,652 rushing yards and 55 touchdowns.
As for the Browns? Since taking Mayfield first overall in 2018, they’ve made the postseason twice but have just a single playoff win to show for it. Allen, on the other hand, has guided Buffalo to five playoff wins and an AFC Championship Game appearance alone in the 2020s decade.
Browns Would Be A Bonafide Contender With Josh Allen
The Browns have an elite defense, a top-tier offensive line and a nice set of offensive weapons led by Nick Chubb, Amari Cooper and David Njoku. So it’s not a stretch to say that if they used the No. 1 pick of 2018 on Josh Allen, they’d have a Super Bowl championship (or two) to celebrate by now.
