Boston Celtics star Derrick White got rocked by a spinning back fist to the face during Colorado’s win over Colorado State this past Saturday.
White, who played his college basketball for CU, attended Saturday’s contest but got into a spat with some CSU fans after the Buffs took control of the game, causing tempers to flare.
“But, one witness in attendance tells us during the second quarter … the hooper got into a bit of a verbal spat with some Rams fans as Deion Sanders and Co. began handling business on the field,” TMZ reports.
With the Rams’ prospects looking bleak in the third quarter, the stands got heated. The video below shows a man in a Colorado State hat and Utah shirt delivering a backhanded strike to the reigning NBA champion, whose hat was knocked off his head due to the sheer force of the blow.
Several people jumped in and got White out of the fray, but some of the fans kept it going, pushing, shoving, and holding each other in headlocks.

“Thankfully, law enforcement arrived before things escalated further … and the scuffle dispersed,” TMZ added. “We’re told White could be seen walking away from the area by heading up some nearby stairs.”
Derrick White Did Not File A Police Report
The publication revealed having contacted the player’s camp but hadn’t heard back at the time of writing.
Meanwhile, Police told TMZ that no pertinent reports had been filed.
Derrick White, who won an NBA Championship with the Celtics and gold with Team USA this year, played for the Buffaloes from 2015 to 2017. It appears he got hit for simply showing his alma mater support.
