ESPN’s Mina Kimes has proposed a trade that would thrust Matthew Stafford into an intriguing situation with an AFC outfit.

While the Los Angeles Rams haven’t shown any signs of wanting to move on from the veteran quarterback, Kimes thinks she knows where he would fit best amid the Rams’ struggles to start the season.

Stafford has only thrown one touchdown pass since the start of the term but is still considered to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Given the injury crisis in L.A., with star receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua both sidelined, he isn’t tipped to have an overwhelmingly positive campaign in 2024.

The Rams are also without several key offensive linemen and defensive backs.

Kimes reckons a move to the Las Vegas Raiders would likely suit the 36-year-old as the team has proven that they could be a threat this season.

“Watching the first two weeks, that’s a very good defense, Davante Adams is still one of the best receivers in the NFL, Brock Bowers looks like a dude,” the sportscaster said on ‘NFL Live’ this Tuesday. “Imagine adding Matthew Stafford.”

Matthew Stafford Would Present An Instant Upgrade

Gardner Minshew, a former backup quarterback, has established himself as the starter in Vegas and was instrumental in their Week 2 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

The 28-year-old has been very decent under center for the Raiders, but they would be so much better with a player like Stafford steering their offense.

Of course, the Florida native would be a pricey addition as he’s contracted through to 2026 and has a cap hit of $53 million for next year.

It would present a complicated deal for the Raiders, but more shocking things have happened in football.
