Lamar Jackson was taking heat on social media after making a joke considered to be in poor taste following the Baltimore Ravens’ win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
The Ravens held on for a 28-25 win after leading by 22 points to start the fourth quarter and avoided going down 0-3 in the wake of losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders.
Jackson threw 12-for-15 to the tune of 182 yards and a touchdown. Dak Prescott went 28-51 for 379 yards and two scores, but Dallas could not get into the end zone in the first half.
Still, they managed to make it a one-score game with a 19-point rally in the fourth quarter.
The Ravens quarterback spoke to FOX Sports’ Tom Rinaldi after the game and joked that Baltimore absolutely had to win as some fans were on “suicide watch.”
“We needed it bad. I believe some people was on suicide watch,” he said.

Social media thought the joke was inappropriate.
“Bro 😭😭😭😂,” one fan wrote.
“Cancelled,” another said.
“Some people on suicide watch is a crazy statement,” said a third.
“This a crazy quote😂😂,” a fourth added.
“Quote this wth 😭,” someone wrote.
“This is an appalling thing to say. If you’re struggling with mental health, it’s not a joke. You have options,” a user pointed out.

Lamar Jackson Should Have Used Better Judgment
Jackson certainly did not mean to offend anyone, but he should have known better than to joke about such a sensitive topic. While Rinaldi didn’t seem to mind and laughed, we have to assume that there were many viewers who have had to deal with loved ones taking their own lives.
Meanwhile, the Ravens will steer their focus toward a win against the Buffalo Bills next Sunday, which would see them improve to 2-2 should they pull off what would be considered an upset.
Buffalo will play their Week 3 fixture against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Monday night.
