The Indianapolis Colts might find themselves fielding a lot of calls about their backup quarterback, Joe Flacco, as the November 5th trade deadline approaches. With several teams dealing with quarterback issues, Flacco’s value has never been higher.
The 2023 Comeback Player of the Year could be a valuable asset for Colts GM Chris Ballard, especially with the team committed to second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson. Teams like the Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans, and Cleveland Browns are all searching for answers at the quarterback position due to poor play or injuries.
The Miami Dolphins (Tua Tagovailoa) and Green Bay Packers (Jordan Love) are also navigating injuries to their starting quarterbacks. A reunion with the Browns, where Flacco revitalized his career, could be a particularly interesting storyline.
The Browns have struggled mightily with Deshaun Watson under center, making a reliable veteran like Flacco a potentially attractive option.
Joe Flacco came off his couch at 40 years old and passed for over 300 yards in 5 out of 6 games he played in Stefanski’s offense. Watson doesn’t have a 200 yard passing game in 2024 and doesn’t have a 300 yard passing game in his Browns career. We can’t defend this #Browns

The Browns should consider reaching out to the Indianapolis Colts about a trade for veteran QB Joe Flacco. After Deshaun Watson went down with a season-ending shoulder injury last year, Flacco stepped in and led Cleveland to an 11-6 record and a playoff berth.
In his five starts, Flacco threw for over 320 yards per game and tossed 13 touchdowns compared to just eight interceptions. That’s a stark contrast to Watson, who averaged just 185 passing yards per game and 6.5 yards per attempt.
At age 39, Flacco has clearly demonstrated his ability to run head coach Kevin Stefanski’s offense and get the most out of the Browns’ talented supporting cast. To bring Flacco back to Cleveland, the Browns front office should offer Indianapolis a sixth-round pick in 2025 and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2026 that could improve to a fourth-rounder based on Flacco’s playing time.
The Browns gave Flacco a chance to revive his career last season, and now he could be the answer once again as they look to maximize their championship window.
