The Ohio State Buckeyes have lived up to their No. 3 ranking through the first three weeks of the college football season.
The Buckeyes are 3-0 after a dominant 49-14 victory over Marshall on Saturday.
Ohio State will begin Big Ten Conference play this coming Saturday with a road trip to face Michigan State.
The following week, the Buckeyes return home to host the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The Buckeyes and Hawkeyes will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on October 5th in a game televised on CBS.
The game will be played at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State and Iowa have played 65 times, with the Buckeyes holding a 47-15-3 advantage.
The first matchup came in 1922, with the Hawkeyes winning 12-9. Iowa won three of the first four games in the series, with the other game ending in a scoreless tie.
Ohio State established control early on, winning its first game in the series in 1926. The Buckeyes won five of the next six games.
After Iowa won 14-7 in 1948, the Buckeyes responded two seasons later with an 83-21 victory in Columbus, the largest margin of victory for either team in the series. Ohio State’s longest winning streak over Iowa is 16 games, running from 1963 to 1980.
The Buckeyes also won eight straight matchups with the Hawkeyes from 1992 to 2003. Iowa’s longest winning streak in the series is two games, which has happened twice.
The Hawkeyes’ last win over the Buckeyes came in 2017, a 55-24 upset victory over the then-No. 3 Buckeyes in Iowa City.
Ohio State evened the score five years later with a 54-10 win in Columbus. Iowa enters Week 5 with a 3-1 record, including a 1-0 mark in Big Ten play.
The Hawkeyes’ only loss came in Week 2 at the hands of their rivals, the Iowa State Cyclones. Iowa State won 20-19 in Iowa City.
The Hawkeyes bounced back to defeat the Illinois State Redbirds at home before traveling to Minnesota last week and knocking off the Golden Gophers. Iowa is off this week.
