The defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers have been hit with another brutal injury break, with linebacker Curtis Robinson now out for the season.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that Curtis Robinson is one for the season after suffering a torn ACL in Thursday’s practice. The 26-year-old appeared in all three games and had one tackle in a rotational role.
It’s the latest worrisome injury update for the 49ers. Earlier this week, they learned that superstar defensive tackle Javon Hargrave will likely miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn triceps.
Losing Curtis Robinson significantly dents the depth of the 49ers defense. They are still without linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who was placed on the PUP list as he continues to recover from a torn Achilles he suffered in the Super Bowl 58 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

And that’s only on the defensive side of the ball. The 49ers played last week without tight end George Kittle (hamstring, set to play in Week 4), All-Pro wideout Deebo Samuel (calf, questionable for Sunday) and superstar running back Christian McCaffrey (heel/Achilles injury).
McCaffrey has yet to play this season, and it’s still unclear when he might return. With Curtis Robinson now injured, things just got even harder for the 1-2 49ers as they try to gain ground on the NFC West-leading and 3-0 Seattle Seahawks.
Curtis Robinson Is A Pending Restricted Free Agent
The 26-year-old Robinson joined the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford in 2021. He was released late in the season before joining the 49ers’ practice squad, and Robinson has remained with the red and gold ever since.
The 49ers brought back Curtis Robinson after their Super Bowl loss to Kansas City. He is a pending exclusive rights restricted free agent, so the 49ers have an interesting decision to make when the 2025 league year begins.
