Pedro Casares strapped down his Orlando home before Hurricane Milton hit
For those of you who wondered what happened to Pedro Casares and his home, we have an important update.
Pedro went viral in recent days following a news report that saw him strap down the roof of his Orlando home in preparation for Hurricane Milton.
The straps weren’t simply attached to his front lawn though; the hooks that held the straps down were eight feet deep with cement.
People loved Pedro’s way of thinking, and have been calling for updates on the man, who hails from Peutro Rico, to see how he and his home is doing after Hurricane Milton hit on Wednesday (October 10).
“To not follow up on this story after the hurricane would be journalistic malpractice,” one person commented on YouTube, while others said they were ‘100% invested in this story’.
And now, people’s prayers have been answered, as both Pedro’s daughter and the journalist who interviewed him have given updates, and you’ll be pleased to know Pedro’s unconventional hurricane prep worked.
Taking to Twitter, CNN’s Brian Able posted: “Update for those asking from Pedro’s daughter Raisa: ‘We’re doing good just went outside our home just now to clean up and see if any damage (has) been done and nothing not even a shingle lifted but other than that just tiny damages nothing crazy.”
Pedro’s daughter Raisa has given people an update on their home (@simplyuniquesmiles93/TikTok)
Elsewhere, Raisa also shared a video filming their home and showcasing the minimal damage endured.
She said in the clip posted to TikTok: “Thankful we’re okay. [The] house is good; no crazy damages or anything.”
Raisa added that they’re ‘very blessed’ to not have suffered too badly at the hands of Hurricane Milton.
Further on in the clip, she revealed that her rather isn’t rushing to take down his famous roof straps, as it’s still hurricane season in Florida.
People have since replied to Raisa’s video expressing their relief that she, her father, and their home are okay.
@simplyuniquesmiles93 We made it through our second Hurricane and we are blessed to have no crazy damages to rhe home. My prayers still continue to those heavily affected during this time. Me and my dad are about to drive to see if anyone needs help🙏🫶🏼🏠#HurricaneMilton#CentralFL#Orlando#FLhomegoesviral#homestrappeddown#homedepot#lowes#USCC#cargocontrolstraps#acehardware#CNN#wash2news#spectrumnews#telemundo#univision#dailymail#abcnews#ukradiostation ♬ Inspirational – neozilla
“That was a good idea. Your dad is smart man. I’m happy to see your safe,” wrote one person.
A second said: “I just knew they were gonna work when I seen you translating for your papa on the news! Baby that’s a Padre who is a REAL handy man.”
