Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany Matthews are adding another teammate to their family.
The longtime couple announced Sunday that they’re expecting their second child together
In a photo post shared on Instagram, Mahomes is seen sitting beside Matthews and their 3-year-old daughter, Sterling Skye, who holds a sign that reads, “Big sister duties coming soon.”
A separate image features Matthews, a Kansas City Current soccer club co-owner, holding up a sonogram as the Chiefs quarterback, 28, smiles beside her.
Together since their high-school days, Mahomes and Matthews made their decades-long love official in March when they wed in a lavish Hawaiian ceremony. The pair then jetted off for a dreamy honeymoon in St. Barts.
Matthews, who boasts over one million Instagram followers, shared photos from her and Mahomes’ tropical getaway, calling their honeymoon “perfect.”
Since returning stateside, the past few weeks have been busy for Matthews and Mahomes, with the duo checking out Coachella and NBA playoff games in April.
Mahomes and Matthews initially announced their engagement in September 2020. Weeks later, the couple confirmed that they were expecting, with Matthews giving birth to daughter Sterling in February 2021.
Though Matthews and Mahomes are preparing for their new addition, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback is also gearing for Wednesday’s highly-anticipated golf event, “The Match,” in which he and Bills quarterback Josh Allen will face Tom Brady and Aaron Rodger
Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany responds to pregnancy rumor: ‘Not sure where this started’
Brittany Mahomes put the kibosh on pregnancy speculation Wednesday, telling her Instagram followers she isn’t “really sure where this rumor” originated.
When taking part in an Instagram Q&A, Brittany confirmed that she is not expecting her third child with husband Patrick Mahomes, with whom she shares daughter Sterling Skye, 2, and 9-month-old son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III.
“I’m not really sure where this rumor started but no I am not pregnant,” Brittany wrote in response to a question, “So you aren’t pregnant right now?”
Brittany, who wed the star Chiefs quarterback in March 2022, was also asked if the couple will have more children.
“Part of me says yes, part of me says ehhhh maybe not!”
Elsewhere in the Q&A, Brittany said she was “leaning toward homeschool” for her children’s education.
The family of four recently enjoyed a beach vacation before the start of the 2023 NFL season, which will be Mahomes’ seventh.
“We’ll getting ready for football season but looking back at our first offseason as 4, whew it flew by!” Brittany wrote on Instagram earlier this month, including a photo of the couple with their kids in a tropical location.
Brittany also shared a photo of the couple kissing on the sidelines during Saturday’s preseason matchup between the Chiefs and Cardinals.
The high school sweethearts, both 27, welcomed cameras into their home during the filming of Netflix’s “Quarterback” docuseries, which premiered in July.
The series followed Mahomes on and off the field throughout the 2022 NFL season, when he led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl win over the Eagles in February.
Brittany’s second pregnancy was also featured on the show.
In addition to Mahomes, the docuseries followed Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins and former Falcons signal-caller Marcus Mariota, who is now with the Eagles.
