Detroit Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson was well on his way to one of his best seasons ever, and it ended following what he does best, which was a sack on the quarterback.

Hutchinson injured his left leg and was taken off the field by stretcher.

With 11:43 left in the third quarter, the defensive end whipped Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott to the ground for a sack, and his leg appeared to clip teammate Alim McNeill. He knew something was wrong immediately as he removed his mouthpiece and gloves.

After the Week 6 contest, Campbell informed reporters that Hutchinson sustained a broken tibia, which will sideline the 24-year-old for the rest of the season.

The tibia is the larger of two bones in the lower leg and supports most of your weight. He was taken to a hospital in the Dallas area and had emergency surgery.

Hutchinson, the No. 2 pick of the 2022 draft out of Michigan, was having a breakout season and is the heart of the Lions’ defense, which ranked fourth in the NFL against the run entering the game.

The star defensive end had at least one sack in each of the Lions’ first three games.

Losing him in the long term will be a huge problem.

Aidan Hutchinson was building a very strong case for Defensive Player of the Year consideration before going down.

Aria and Mia Hutchinson both took to their Instagram story to repost a message from the House of Hutch, Hutchinson’s brand and nonprofit partner, on their Stories that read: “Please pray for Aidan” after he suffered a broken tibia.

The Lions will continue on with their season as they will face the Vikings in Minnesota on Oct. 20.
