The Las Vegas Raiders have pulled the trigger and fired three of its top coaches in a bid to turn around a woeful start to the NFL season.
Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, offensive line coach James Cregg and quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello have all been given the boot just nine games into their Raiders careers.
The team is 2-7 to start the 2024 season, and suffered a dreadful 41-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday – taking its losing streak to five games.
It is the team’s worst run since 2018, and now management has decided to take action with owner Mark Davis growing increasingly concerned as he watches on from the stands.
Speaking after the game, head coach Antonio Pierce said: ‘It wasn’t a good day in the office. It goes for all of us. I mean, it’s a group effort. It’s a team effort.

‘We’ve all got to find a way to do better. We want to pinpoint from this game and look at a lot of things, from coaches to playcalling to players to execution to situations that we all can do a much better job and put ourselves in a position to get into the fourth quarter and actually have a chance to win — not always playing catch-up.’
Getsy, Cregg and Scangarello were all in their first season with the Raiders, but the offense – first led by quarterback Aidan O’Connell and now Gardner Minshew – has dried up.
On their current five-game losing streak, the Raiders have managed just four touchdowns on 50 drives, with three of them coming in the closing minutes of games with the team 20+ points down.

It is a fall from grace for Getsy in particular, who impressed in his previous role with the Chicago Bears, orchestrating the No 1 and 2 rushing offenses in the NFL in the 2022 and 2023 season respectively.
Getsy was fired by the Bears in January and hired by the Raiders in February, and had been moved from the field to the press box to call plays two weeks ago.
The Raiders now head into their bye week looking for a new OC, before a trip to Miami to face the Dolphins in Week 11.
