No NFL owner is under fire these days as much as Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys, but star linebacker Micah Parsons has tried to put him in a better light.
Micah Parsons’ Cowboys have been one of football’s biggest disappointments this season with a 3-5 record. With quarterback Dak Prescott out multiple weeks because of a hamstring injury, the Cowboys are likely on their way to missing the postseason for the first time in four years.
As the owner of “America’s Team”, Jones has always been a popular target of criticism. While most owners of pro sports teams hide from the media, Jerry loves the attention and enjoys speaking to reporters on a weekly basis. Even when his team isn’t doing well.
Amid all the backlash Jones has received in this miserable season, Parsons went great lengths to paint a better picture of the Cowboys owner.
Per Jon Machota of The Athletic, Micah Parsons shared a story about Jones picking him up on the road so they could attend Super Bowl 58 together in Las Vegas, Nevada last February:
“Side of the road. I was outside of the Wynn hotel and Jerry walks out of the Wynn hotel and goes: ‘Micah! Where are you going? … Are you going to the game?’ I said, ‘Nah.’ He said, ‘You want to come?’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’ He brought me to the game. I was like, ‘Cool.’ “We got a chance to talk for a few hours. It goes to show you how generous and caring he is. He broke me down about life and football and how he sees the players, how he sees the team and where he wants to go with us. The fact that he did that with me, it goes to show that our relationship is growing and he trusts me. “

Parsons was also asked for his thoughts about an owner being close with his players. The former gave it a thumbs up and praised Jones for having his “heart in” the right place:
“I think it’s a good thing. Because honestly, a lot of owners don’t care. Jerry cares about how comfortable we are, he cares about this facility. When you walk in the building it says, ‘It’s a privilege not a right to wear the star.’ I think when you got an owner like that, actually cares and actually wants to be involved in this process, instead of like, ‘This is a moneymaker, this is about money to me.’ His heart is in it. “And when someone’s heart is in it, think about family, family doesn’t always do the right things or make the right decisions, but you still love them because they care. They actually care about the significance about what they’re doing.”
The Cowboys will try to improve to 4-5 when they host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Micah Parsons Shares The Friendly Side Of Jerry Jones
Love or hate Jones, there’s no questioning that he usually takes care of his players…at least on a financial level. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb were awarded lucrative extensions this offseason, and Parsons will surely get a new deal worth $100-plus million before his rookie deal expires.
