As the adage goes, all good things must come to an end, even the Kansas City Chiefs’ nearly year-long winning streak. Despite winning their last six games (including Super Bowl LVIII) in 2023 and starting 9-0 in 2024, the Chiefs have experienced a setback and must respond after a 30-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Travis Kelce was disappointed that the squad lost their first game of the season. With that in mind, Kelce is normally upbeat on his podcast with his brother, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, but not on Wednesday, November 20. By the way, his girlfriend Taylor Swift did not attend the game, so Chiefs supporters cannot claim she distracted him on the field.
During the podcast, Kelce discussed how he felt after the Chiefs’ loss to the Buffalo Bills and what he told his teammates after the fall. Travis described the defeat in three terms throughout the show. He stated that it “pisses me off.”
He also told Jason that he believed he “didn’t play my best” in the game. Following his assertion that it “pisses me off,” he continued: “it made me, you know, go right back into work on Monday after the game and get after it and find a find a way to make … right.”
In the loss, Kansas City failed to keep the ball and committed costly penalties, swinging the momentum in Buffalo’s favor — and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was clearly aware that his teammates weren’t playing the proper way. Travis and Jason Kelce examined the Chiefs’ first loss in 2024 in depth on the most recent episode of his “New Heights” podcast.
Notably, Travis chastised his teammates for their “mentality off the field” — which may be construed as a dig at Patrick and Brittany Mahomes in light of the recent presidential election. “I don’t give a f**k how your body is feeling. I don’t give a f**k about where your mentality is off the field,” Travis said. “When you step in that building, we’re here to figure s**t out.

“We are here to get better as football players for the football team,” Travis said afterwards. “I think that is a mentality going forward that everybody has to be a part of, top down.
” Travis also glanced in the mirror (figuratively speaking) and targeted himself for criticism. The 35-year-old’s rough 2024 season continued on Sunday, when the Bills’ defense held him to only eight yards on two receptions.
“I put that on myself, to harp on the fundamentals, throughout practice, to make sure I’m getting out there and I’m running around, I’m not just going through the plays,” Travis said . “I have to make sure I’m focused, make sure I get the timing down with the quarterback so that we’re ‘on time’ for Pat, and Pat can be confident throwing the football where it needs to go.”
