Daniel Jones is headed to the unemployment line.

On Friday morning, the New York Giants officially ended his era with the team when they made the decision to cut him from the team.

The Giants would soon release a statement on the decision:

This news comes after the former No. 6 overall pick was benched in favor of Tommy DeVito.

Daniel Jones was demoted to QB3 this week amid a 2-8 start to the 2024 NFL season.

Following the announcement, he was spotted playing a different position at practice as it became clear his time with the organization had come to an end.

After going 24-44-1 as a starter for the team, Jones will now look to join another team in hopes of getting a second chance to show that he can be a starter in this league.

Daniel Jones Spoke Out Before His Release

Daniel Jones’ shift to scout team safety the week was the final straw in his career with the Giants.

The demotion of Jones to the scout team eventually led to his departure from the team on Friday.

Before that happened, Jones addressed the media after practice on Thursday. He thanked those who have helped him in his career thus far, noting that while there have been ups in this journey, there have certainly been many downs.

“The opportunity to play for the New York Giants was truly a dream come true, and I am extremely grateful … for the chance to play here,” Jones said. “The Giants are truly a first class organization and I have nothing but genuine respect and appreciation for the people who built it and who help carry on the tradition. I met so many specialty people and created relationships that will truly last a lifetime. Thank you all my teammates, coaches and staff that have done so much for me these past six years. There have been some great times, but of course, we all wish there had been more of those.”
