A massive trade proposal has the Dallas Cowboys swapping out superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb for another big-named WR in a move that would drastically alter the 2024 NFL playoff race.
CeeDee Lamb is entering the fifth and final year of his rookie deal. Eyeing a new contract, the 25-year-old decided to skip mandatory minicamp to secure the lucrative (and well-deserved) extension.
In an ideal world, Lamb’s extension would be a slam dunk for the Cowboys, who also need to pay quarterback Dak Prescott (who has one year left on his contract) and linebacker Micah Parsons (who is eligible for an extension).
But if contract negotiations between CeeDee Lamb’s camp and the Cowboys go sideways, Jerry Jones may have to do the unthinkable and consider trading Prescott’s most trusted playmaker.
Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon proposed four trade ideas involving Lamb. One of his proposals has the Cowboys sending their star pass-catcher to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for fellow stud WR George Pickens and a second-round pick:
“Unlike the rookie receivers already mentioned, George Pickens is established in the NFL despite being just 23. Still, the Steelers could opt to maximize their weapons for Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
Because Pickens is coming off a 1,000-yard sophomore season, this would be slightly closer to a player-for-player deal, with Dallas saving money and gaining some draft capital and Pittsburgh doing everything in its power to get this right.
This move makes quite a lot of sense considering the Steelers are in better cap shape than the Cowboys.”

Pickens is two years older than Lamb and has two years remaining on his rookie contract, so this move does make sense if Dallas wants to shop their All-Pro wideout for a player who can help them win now.
Last season, Pickens hauled in 63 receptions for 1,140 yards and five touchdowns. Lamb finished with a league-leading 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, all personal bests.
Through his first four seasons, Lamb has 395 receptions for 5,145 yards and 32 touchdowns.
Cowboys Will Likely Reach A New Deal With CeeDee Lamb
As fun as a potential CeeDee Lamb trade sounds like for football fans, the likelihood remains that he’ll sign a massive long-term deal that’ll make him one of the highest-paid players in league history.
Justin Jefferson just signed a four-year extension with the Minnesota Vikings worth $140 million. Lamb’s production has also been consistently elite, so one shouldn’t be surprised if he gets close to that $140 million mark.
