Kelly Stafford, the wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, has revealed she put him through hell in college.
Matthew and Kelly are one of the more popular couples in the NFL, though she’s the outspoken one of the two. And he will probably wish she had kept one of her latest revelations to herself.
Kelly has revealed having stepped out on Matthew during the early stages of their relationship, with someone he knew very well at that.
According to the NFL WAG, she hooked up with the backup quarterback while she was a cheerleader at Georgia to get him jealous. Surprisingly enough, her plan did not backfire.
“At first, I hated him,” she said while discussing her relationship on the ‘Off the Vine’ podcast. “I loved him (actually). I dated the backup (quarterback at UGA) to piss him off, which worked. He was the bad boy, too. Like, Matthew’s so sweet and Southern gentleman and all that stuff and the backup was the complete opposite. It upset him which it worked thankfully.”

Well, that is some tactic. Not sure why she felt the need to share it either.
It must have been embarrassing enough in college; why put it out there now?
Matthew Stafford Probably Has The One Backup No One Would Want In His Situation
Fortunately for Matthew Stafford, he was able to maintain enough focus to make it to the NFL despite his partner’s brazen infidelity. For her part, she got the man she wanted, though we can’t even be sure she really did.
Matt and Kelly married in 2015 and have four daughters. Let’s hope none of them ever come across this video when they are older.
By the way, don’t get any ideas, Jimmy Garoppolo…
NFL star Matthew Stafford’s wife reveals she slept with ‘bad boy’ backup QB to make future husband jealous
LOS Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford’s wife Kelly has opened up on their unorthodox beginnings as a couple.
The Staffords met while at Georgia, where Matthew starred for the Bulldogs from 2006 until 2008, and Kelly for their cheer squad.
Exactly when they became official is unclear.
However, in a recent appearance on the Off The Vine podcast, Kelly revealed that at first Matthew was keen to keep their relationship casual.
“It wasn’t that cute of a relationship at first,” she admitted.
“I hated him, I loved him. I dated the backup [quarterback] to p** him off – which worked.”
During his three years with the Bulldogs, Stafford was backed up by Joe Tereshinski III, Joe Cox, and Logan Gray.
Exactly who Kelly dated prior to Matthew she did not specify in the podcast.
Of the aforementioned backup, Kelly described him as “the bad boy,” whereas “Matthew is so sweet – a southern gentleman, all that stuff.
“And the backup was the complete opposite and it upset him.”
Kelly went on to explain that with Matthew and the backup living in the same dorm, “He would see my car there.”
“And so at one point, [Matthew] waited and followed me out and got in my car and wouldn’t get out.
“I was like, ‘This is amazing, it’s working!’ I was like, ‘Get out of my car!’ And he was like, ‘He’s not right for you.'”
Matthew went on to be drafted first overall in 2009 by the Detroit Lions.
He spent 12 seasons in Michigan, setting franchise records in passing yards (45,109) and passing touchdowns (282).
After just four winning seasons, Matthew was traded to the Rams in 2021 in exchange for fellow former first-overall draft pick Jared Goff along with two future first-round picks and a third-rounder.
In his first season with the Rams, Matthew led Los Angeles to a Super Bowl LVI win and just his second career Pro Bowl nod.
As for him and Kelly, they eventually tied the knot in 2015.
They have since had four children together – Sawyer, Chandler, Hunter, and Tyler.
Kelly and the kids often head to Rams games in team-themed outfits in support of Matthew.
Along with her role as a mom, Kelly also co-hosts The Morning After podcast with Hank Winchester.
