The Washington Commanders have had a decent season so far in 2024, as 2024 second overall pick Jayden Daniels has led the team to a surprisingly competitive 7-5 record through 12 games, and there is still much more football to be played.

Last week, the Commanders took on the struggling Dallas Cowboys in a divisional matchup. The Cowboys were third in the NFC East heading into the anticipated game. However, the Commanders ultimately lost their third straight game.

In the game, Daniels was clearly not the problem, as while the Cowboys put up 34 points on the Commanders’ defense, Daniels was balling out. The rookie signal-caller put 275 passing yards while completing 65 percent of his passes for 2 touchdowns.

Now, the Commanders have made a difficult decision, and many of their fans thought they should have done a while to attempt to get back in the win column this week against the Titans. The team has officially cut Emmanuel Forbes Jr.

The Washington Commanders Have Released Emmanuel Forbes Jr.

The Commanders drafted Forbes with the 16th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, as their scouting team clearly liked the former Mississippi State cornerback. He holds the FCS record for the most pick sixes.

Forbes played 14 games last season with the Commanders, in which he recorded 28 tackles and 11 passes defended. He also added one pick in their week two matchup against the Denver Broncos.

After much pressure to release the second-year corner, the Commanders finally did so after Forbes saw action in just three of the team’s 12 games this season. While his career hasn’t been so fruitful, odds are another team will sign the former first-round pick.
